Peringatan hari jadi SMP Laboratorium UM ke-31 yang diselenggarakan pada hari Sabtu, 23 Oktober 2021 berjalan cukup meriah walaupun masih ditengah situasi pandemi.
Kegiatan yang bertemakan “Healthy, Creative, Innovative” ini diselenggarakan oleh panitia dari sekolah yakni bapak dan ibu guru serta dibantu OSIS SMP Laboratorium UM. Acara digelar dengan menyajikan beberapa persembahan pentas kesenian dari siswa-siswi SMP Laboratorium UM. Selain pentas seni oleh siswa, acara turut dimeriahkan dengan kehadiran mahasiswa KPL dari Universitas Negeri Malang.
Kegiatan pada hari Sabtu diawali dengan melakukan Zumba yang diikuti serentak oleh bapak/ibu guru, pegawai, mahasiswa KPL, dan beberapa perwakilan siswa. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di lapangan SMP Laboratorium UM atau lebih dikenal dengan sebutan “Arena ARSIMBO” dengan mendatangkan langsung instruktur Zumba “Oktrino Senja”. Kegiatan yang dilakukan tepat pada pukul 07.30 – 08.30 WIB ini sukses menarik perhatian para hadirin untuk mengikuti gerakan dengan meriah. Alasan mengapa kegiatan Zumba dipilih sebagai kegiatan pembuka tak lain adalah untuk membakar semangat para hadirin di pagi hari sehingga rangkaian kegiatan selanjutnya bisa terlaksana dengan antusiasme yang penuh.
Berpindah dari arena ARSIMBO menuju ke Aula SMP Laboratorium UM, kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah pertunjukan pentas seni oleh siswa-siswi SMP Laboratorium UM. Pertunjukan diawali dengan kata-kata pembuka oleh pembawa acara/host disambung dengan Gema Wahyu Ilahi dari salah satu siswi SMP Laboratorium UM. Gema Wahyu Ilahi dipilih menjadi salah satu bagian rangkaian pembuka sebagai bentuk rasa syukur warga SMP Laboratorium UM. Setelah mendengarkan dengan seksama Gema Wahyu Ilahi kegiatan dilanjutkan dengan sambutan oleh ketua panitia yaitu Ibu Ir. Mutilah serta sambutan dari kepala sekolah yaitu Ibu Dra. Yayuk Prihatnawati, M.Pd.
Sambutan selanjutnya adalah sambutan dari perwakian BPLP. Namun, sebelum itu penampilan tari beskalan oleh siswi SMP Laboratorium UM ditampilkan sebagai penyegaran rangkaian acara. Selanjutnya menuju ke acara inti yakni pemotongan tumpeng sebagai simbol bertambahnya usia SMP Laboratorium UM serta rasa syukur terhadap Tuhan YME.
Acara dilanjutkan dengan talk show atau perbincangan dengan narasumber. Tahun ini SMP Laboratorium menghadirkan seorang narasumber yang memiliki riwayat mengajar di SMP Laboratorium UM serta seorang entrepreneur muda yang sangat menginspirasi yaitu Arnet Sundriyanto. Selain bergerak di bidang entrepreneur, Arnet Sudriyanto juga aktif di bidang sosial sebagai konten creator.
Berikutnya adalah pertunjukan musical yang meliputi permainan piano, home band, biola, band dari alumni, dan akustik. Di sela-sela rangkaian pertunjukan musical panitia mengadakan doorprize bagi tamu undangan yang hadir dengan hadiah yang beragam.
Meninggalkan pertunjukan musical dan pembagian doorprize, selanjutnya adalah pembacaan Do’a oleh bapak Hasyim yang menandai berakhirnya rangkaian acara HUT SMP Laboratorium UM ke-31.
