MALANG – Sudah dua tahun SMP Laboratorium UM membuka International Class Program (ICP). Kelas ICP ini menggunakan dua kurikulum yakni K 2013 dan Cambridge International Examination. Muatan internasional terdiri dari tiga mata pelajaran yaitu Math, Science, dan English.
Riska Indah, S.Pd, Koordinator ICP SMP Lab UM mengatakan, setiap tahunnya untuk menjaring siswa ada seleksi Intensif Progresif Test. Kemudian di kelas sembilan akan ada lagi tes Cek Poin.
“Cek Poin ini semacam ujian kelulusan bagi siswa ICP, jadi nanti siswa ICP ini akan mendapatkan dua ijazah yaitu ijazah lokal (SMP Lab UM) dan ijazah Cambridge,” beber Riska. Ijazah Cambridge, lanjutnya, dapat digunakan untuk mendaftar di sekolah-sekolah yang ada kelas ICP atau dapat juga digunakan mendaftar sekolah di luar negeri.
Kelas ini hanya menerima satu kelas setiap tahunnya dengan jumlah maksimal 26 siswa. Untuk diterima di kelas ICP, siswa harus mengikuti serangkaian tes dan berhasil lolos dengan nilai sesuai standar yang ditetapkan.
Untuk menunjang pemahaman kelas ICP, siswa dibekali dengan modul khusus yang didesain dan dibuat dalam bentuk bahan ajar berbahasa inggris. Selain itu juga menggunakan beberapa buku terbitan asing untuk menambah penguasaan materi berbahasa inggris.
Di kelas ICP, siswa diwajibkan menggunakan bahasa inggris full untuk mata pelajaran English, sedangkan mata pelajaran Math dan Science siswa menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dan Inggris.
“Kelas ICP ini memiliki keunggunalan karena memang proses masuknya ada beberapa tes yang wajib dijalani. Seperti tahun lalu, terdiri dari tes tulis mata pelajaran Math, Science, dan English, ditambah dengan tes wawancara menggunakan bahasa inggris,” beber Riska.
Tahun ini kelas ICP SMP Lab UM akan kembali menerima satu kelas dengan jumlah maksimal 26 siswa. Rencananya tes akan dilakukan melalui tiga tahap yakni tes tulis ketiga mata pelajaran sesuai Cambridge Curiculum, tes wawancara siswa (menggunakan bahasa inggris), dan tes wawancara orang tua.
Sementara itu, Mutilah, Humas SMP Lab UM, menambahkan, kelas ICP Lab UM dilengkapi dengan klinik ICP. Apabila siswa mengalami kesulitan, maka bisa dikonsultasikan dengan mendatangi ke klinik ICP.
“Misalnya jika siswa ICP ada kesulitan di bidang matematika, maka bisa dikonsultasikan dengan dosen yang berkompeten di bidang matematika di ruang Klinik ICP tersebut,” tegasnya.
Di kelas ICP, lanjutnya, ada jam tambahan untuk memperdalam tiga mata pelajaran dari Curriculum Cambridge tersebut khususnya mata pelajaran Science. (mg7/oci)
